"Knowledge, it has been said, is power. And rhetoric is what gives words power. So knowledge of rhetoric equips you, as a citizen, both to exercise power and resist it. As W.H. Auden wrote in 'September 1, 1939,' 'All I have is a voice/To undo the folded lie.' The folding of the lie and the undoing of it are both accomplished through rhetoric."

Book Recommendation
